Congratulations! Your experience bears an uncanny resemblance to ours. We had a baby boy (Charlie) just a few days before you on 20th Dec 2009. We had it all: induction, botched epidural, hormone drip, 3cm dilation after 16 hours then, finally, an emergency C-section.

The most traumatic, stressful and amazing few days of my life. Maybe I should blog about it too.

Good, Rachie, congratulations to you and your beloved and welcome to Martha Rose. She’ll be smiling any minute now if not already, besides yelling. Heaven.

Oh and by the way the story of her birth is one I’ve seen many times over the years, starting with me – more years ago than I can count. The C-section scar stays as a reminder, but the baby – now a well mature adult in my case – remains worth it.

Just wanted to add my congratulations, I was a serial lurker on your blog for a long time!
You had an identical birth experience to me – though my son is 13 months now – with going into labour on Xmas eve, born Xmas day (so not quite the same there, but I had all the ahahaha it will be a Christmas baby crap…), meconium, identical sounding birth plans, ending in c-section. Also the same, I couldn’t give a crap that it didn’t go to plan, he is here, yippee, feeling at the end.

She is soooo gorgeous I hope you are all still doing well.

Many congratulations, she looks very cute And, along with the lovely Heather at dooce.com and my best friend who had to be stitched…THERE…3 ways from Sunday after giving birth, you’re the best contraception I could ever ask for! Brave brave lady, and well done for getting through it all!!
