We were quite a distance out from the wedding - but the stresses and costs were starting to build. After the chat, the vicar said, 'you don't want to be bothered with all that, I can marry you in 3 weeks' (thats the time it takes to read the banns). We jumped at his wise words, and got the lot sorted in 3 weeks. Its amazing how quickly all these photographers, dress makers etc etc can work when given a 2 week time-frame.
