The time has come for me to say…
This blog has been rather quiet of late. Rather than think it’s something to do with blogger’s block, I think it’s more likely that I’ve come to an end. Alot has been happening lately. I’ve been back in the UK for a job interview. I’m getting married. My return-to-the-uk weight gain has already begun. I just don’t have that old blogging mojo these days. I feel that Disco is most definitely dead.
This doesn’t mean that I won’t start again somewhere else. I probably will. But until then, I’d like to thank everyone who reads, and say, hey y’all, you’re fab.

Wow, you certianly now how to end a blog. It’s all over and you’re getting married? Like the end of series cliff hanger. So many questions.
The UK weight gain? Tell me about it. So much good food.
Good luck Rachie. I look forward to your next blog if you start one up. I’ve certainly decided to slow my own blogging - life is taking over.
Thanks for the words - it’s been a great read.

Now how am I going to keep in touch with you?
I’m certain that Disco is not dead, it’s just resting.
Phone home before you go again?

Thank you for sharing your stories. I’ve enjoyed seeing little bits of your life in Namibia.

Don’t go yet, I like reading your blog! I’ve been reading your stories for a few years now, and I’ll miss them, and you. Well if you must go, bugger off and I wish you a great life! Or as they say in France for good luck- Merde!
August 25th, 2007 at 12:23 pm
That’s a shame. Be sure to send us a postcard with your new address when you resume.
Congratulations on the engagement!

WHA???? QUE???? Married? Leaving? Noooooo! (To the leaving part, not to the getting married part. Yay to that. And congrats!) I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your Namibian tales…please do let me know somehow if you restart somewhere else!! Best of luck to you!
August 25th, 2007 at 8:04 pm
You can’t do this to me! Not right now!
August 26th, 2007 at 4:54 am
Congratulations! I will miss you and the glimpses of your life you gave us and wish you all the best for your exciting new future!
Best wishes!

I had a feeling of déja vu, when I read this post (except the “I’m getting married” bit).
If it’s for real, then it’s sad news (except the “I’m getting married” bit).
Anyway, it was a huge pleasure to read you, and please let us know if you write somewhere else.
And congratulations for the “I’m getting married” bit .

I’ve been quietly enjoying ‘Disco’ for quite a while now, maybe 2 years, and will be sad to se it go. Glad that it’s for good reasons though but as Uncle Did says I don’t think it’s the last we’ll be seeing of you. You’ve been writing too much and too regularly. I think it’s a fun little addiction of yours so I’m sure we’ll see and enjoy your wit and wisdom somewhere else again. What about that novel idea you had a while back?
Congratulations and all the best

This is probably a good time to confess: I have been reading your blog for months now and have lapped up every delectable word of it. You’ve been a real inspiration to me.
It’s been something of an unequal relationship - me catching up on the life of an old friend who I’ve barely seen since we were kids - and you not even knowing that I was there. Maybe I can redress the balance now.
Good luck for the future, and if you’d like to be in touch, you have my email address now. Don’t lose the disco fever!

You will be missed! But you’re getting married…..that’ a much bigger priority than blogging. And, if memory serves from when I got hitched, a full-time job. Good luck with everything.

I’m a relative newcomer to your scribe, but now it’s no more…boo hoo!
You have a great writing style and imaginative streak that’s often leftfield. Its a little like reading a Jeanette Winterson book. If you do start writing again make sure to let us all know. And to think, I spent some time in Windhoek last year before I discovered this blog, we may have even passed each other on Robert Mugabe Avenue at some point!
Enjoy the good things happening in your life, all the best.

I only discovered your blog relatively recently, but have enjoyed reading it. You have a good eye for detail, a good pen to describe it, and a fun sense of humour.
Are you really getting married? If so, what were you doing discussing your international blind date with your psychotherapist? Or is this why the forthcoming marriage has taken us all by surprise? Was it such a fabulous blind date that you got engaged there and then?
Please do let me have the address if/when you set up a new blog. I suspect you will. I’m sure you’ll miss it in time. You’ll be Dying for Disco.

My address was incorrect on the previous comment, so if you do get in touch in the future, please use this one.

Hi Rach
It has been wonderful keeping up with your life in Namibia. Like everyone else I have really enjoyed your writing.
Hope to meet up sometime back in the UK.
Getting married? Wow! What an ending to volume 1 of your blog.
(and sorry I never fulfilled my promise to donate to VSO - do you think they noticed?)
All the best

Having been absent myself Rachie I’ve only just picked this up. I’ll miss you/your writing. Good luck with it all though - getting married/job interview/leaving Namibia/life. I hope in one guise or other you’ll be back. Minus disco perhaps? xx

Well Rachie,
I don’t check often, but here and there. Was sad to see this, but over-the-top happy for you. I am honoured to have been able to partake in many of your tales and am quite sure it won’t be long before we’re reading more again. Smooch!
