I almost forgot. Steve at Our Man in Granada is covering the Great Turtle Race.
I picked Stephanie Colburtle, and what do you know? She’s winning. Hurrah. Go Steph. However, knowing my luck in these kind of things, she will probably be eaten halfway to the Galapagos, and I will be plagued with terrible guilt for the rest of my life. I should never have got involved. I’ve practically sealed her doom.
Right, I’m off home to eat some cheap tuna.

Yup, she’s out front - Windy was there but dropped to sixth. I’m handily placed with Billie in 3rd.
It appears that Drexaline and Sundae are still on land.

I can hardly watch any more - mine turtle Billie is in second place. But what about those back markers. Sundae appears to still be twitching but Drexelina hasn’t moved in ages and even the info on the site is not referring to her any more.
Tragic.

Turtle Race? Wow, that beats my Running of the Sheep ( a la Pamplona’s Running of the Bulls).
I live in a village that for centuries held the 2nd largest sheep market in UK. The village of roughly 400 souls had 14 pubs just to cater for the market day influx.
But Turtle Race? New one on me. Will you have to bury a time capsule to remind future generations in 2589, that a race was started in 2007 and is still on the go….?!

for those of you worrying about rach’s whereabouts, apparently she’s ‘on tour’ (does this involve tigers??) with a friend. back next week. i ended up calling her office, and texting mob. through overfretting…
